A lifestyle change may be required and that starts with taking a good look at yourself and your behaviours.
We all love food, we all crave comfort and we all hate change. We’re human.
What’s the best Diet?
The best diet is the one you can stick to.
What’s the best Exercise?
The best exercise is the activity/activities you can incorporate into your life and stick to.
You have a body. You may like it or hate it, but it’s yours for the rest of your life.
Can you change? Absolutely, Yes!
It’s so so scary to opt for change, it’s something new, it’s delving into the unknown, it’s moving away from your comfort zone and yes it’s scary. Our bodies are naturally and evolutionary hard wired for comfort and the status quo but you can alter it if you try!
These steps below may help.
- Self Awareness. It’s a process that begins with being aware. This may seem obvious, but it isn’t and it can be extremely difficult for some. If you’re used to blaming or finding excuses, then you’re sadly not aware. How are you going to change anything if you won’t own up to how you’re thinking and behaving. (You’ve got to take a really good look and it’s going to be uncomfortable).
- Start off Slowly. This is so important. Try not to expect change to happen overnight. Practice, practise, practice is the key. When we continually practice something then we eventually become better at it, so much so that it then becomes a habit.
- Be Realistic with your goals, unrealistic goals can create fear and failure. Small achievable goals are productive and can help you stay motivated.
- Be Positive, by introducing positivity and being conscious of any negative self talk or negativity from others can help. Rewarding yourself after small accomplishments has been shown to help with enjoying the process and therefore succeeding.
- Learn from your mistakes and take it as a positive lesson on how you can limit a repeat of the same or similar mistake again. We all make mistakes and it’s not the end of the world when you do
- Be Mindful, mindful when food shopping, mindful of how you cook, mindful of how you eat, mindful of how much exercise you do, mindful of what triggers you know aren’t going to help. Generally being mindful daily.
You can change! It starts with taking an honest good look at the behaviours and lifestyle you’re leading. If you want it you can have it. Don’t give up!

It never get’s easier, you just get better.
Every failure is a lesson, if you’re not willing to fail, you’re not ready to succeed.
